Citation advice

Researchers are advised to cite from the downloadable PDFs of the interview transcripts, using the page numbers included for direct references. References should include the webpage address, the date accessed, the full name of the person quoted, title of the interview and project, and page number.

For example, to reference a quote from an interview:

Bill Kirkman, Interview with Bill Kirkman, Commonwealth Oral History Project (www.commonwealthoralhistories.org). Available at: http://sas-space.sas.ac.uk/4902/1/Bill_Kirkman_transcript.pdf [Accessed 3.9.2013] p.9.

Please note, the oral history interviews that form part of this project are licensed for use under the creative commons attribution non-commercial no derivatives license.

In addition, some individual contributors have stipulated that you must gain their consent in order to quote from their interviews, or inform them when you do so. Where there are particular conditions of use, this is stated clearly at the top of the transcript. Please note it is the researcher’s individual responsibility to gain this consent.
